Alpi -

Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba, 2020

If we think of the mountains we imagine white peaks full of snow, or ice, which go from earth to sky. This external part actually contains immense treasures made of minerals, earth, fragments, water, clay. Our wall too is driven by the different strength of the elements which, like the Alps, advance into the terrain becoming a corner, a peak separating the full from the empty. Just as it happens under the mountains, the clay, the water, and the colours of the earth push the full mass, deforming the wall with a strange, angled trajectory advancing into the space of the apartment.

We called it Alps because it was inspired by this mountain range which is part of Italy, and of neighbouring states, beautiful and unique in all of Europe. This mountain range embraces Milan, with wonderful views also with the colours of sunset.

Ludovica Serafini + Roberto Palomba.

architects living in Milan, in 1994 they founded Palomba Serafini Associati. Leading pair in Italian design for over 25 years, design products which have become design icons. Theirs is above all a philosophical approach generating courageous, always coherent design, equidistant from decorativism and radical minimalism. The result of a selection of values and themes rather than a reductionist project.

They have been able to bring together organicity and orthogonality to design all types of furniture without ever being repetitive, despite the ease with which their work can be recognised.
In architecture they stretch from renovation, to new buildings, from private houses to hotels. They have won many awards including the prestigious Compasso d'Oro and in 2019 the Head Europe Award for the Best European Hotel.

To celebrate 25 years of their business, Tommaso Calabro hosted them in the gallery where they presented the exhibition Ipertesto, with 25 new unique pieces designed specifically for the gallery.
